Royal Decree 4/2014, of January 10, approves the Quality Regulation for Iberian meat, which established the quality characteristics that Iberian products must meet, improves, and reinforces traceability or establishes stricter requirements in labeling these products in order to improve the information received by consumers and to enhance their differential attributes.

This Regulation, with the rank of Royal Decree and of obligatory compliance for all products using the “Iberian” term, establishes provisions regarding the sales denomination and labeling of Iberian products, obtaining of the raw materials, identification with seals and traceability, product elaboration (minimum times) or control, inspection and certification carried out by the Competent Authorities, independent inspection and certification entities accredited by the ENAC or where appropriate, by the Regulatory Councils of the PODs.
